Since its establishment in 2010, Life Beyond Disabilities (LBD) has been dedicated to transforming lives and creating opportunities for individuals with diverse abilities. Our unwavering commitment lies in providing comprehensive support to individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, ensuring a continuum of care from their early years until the end of life. Through our wide range of programs and services, we aim to empower and uplift each person we serve. These programs include:

Community Living: Enabling individuals to embrace their independence by offering support and resources to live as independently as possible in a home of their own.
Personal Supports: Facilitating connections within the community to empower individuals in achieving their personal aspirations and goals.
Respite Services: Offering temporary care services to provide relief and assistance to caregivers, ensuring individuals receive the support they need while maintaining their daily routines.
Nursing Support Services: Providing comprehensive nursing support, including Nurse Care Management and Delegation Services, to assist individuals in managing their medications and healthcare needs.
Transportation Services: Facilitating access to community activities and resources through reliable transportation services, ensuring individuals can participate fully in their chosen activities.

We are an OHCQ and DDA licensed Agency here in the state of Maryland. We provide services in central Maryland-Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Howard and Harford Counties, and Baltimore City.

Individuals Diagnosed With Intellectual And/Or Developmental Disabilities That Are DDA Waiver Recipients.

Individuals With:

Visual Impairment, Behavioral Problems, Cerebral Palsy, Orthopedic Impairment, Special Learning Disorder, Spinal Bifida, Spinal Cord Injury, Mental Disorder, Chemical Dependency (Including Alcoholism), Muscular Dystrophy, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, Traumatic Brain Injuries, Multiple Sclerosis.

At LBD, we offer supporting services that include:

Community Living

LBD provides a range of services that provide individuals with disabilities or mental health conditions the opportunity to live in a community-based setting, rather than in institutional or hospital settings. Community living services include group homes, supported living arrangements, and other programs that provide individuals with the necessary support to live independently.

Respite Services

LBD offer temporary relief for primary caregivers of individuals with disabilities or special needs. These services provide caregivers with an opportunity to take a break from their caregiving responsibilities, while the person they care for receives support and care in a safe and secure environment.

Personal Support

LBD provides assistance provided to individuals with disabilities or special needs to help them with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, meal preparation, and medication management. Personal supports can be provided in the person's home or in community settings such as day programs.

Nursing Support

LBD provide medical and healthcare services to individuals with disabilities or special needs who require skilled nursing care. These services may include medication management, wound care, and other medical interventions.

Transportation Services

LBD provide individuals with disabilities or special needs with safe and reliable transportation to and from medical appointments, community activities, and other events. These services can include specially equipped vehicles and trained drivers to ensure the safety and comfort of the individuals being transported.

In accordance with federal laws, a developmental disability is characterized as a significant and enduring impairment, both physical and/or mental in nature, that manifests before the age of 22. This encompasses a range of conditions such as epilepsy, autism, and cerebral palsy, which may persist throughout an individual’s life.

Absolutely! We offer personalized residential services tailored to meet the unique needs and preferences of each individual and their family. This may include providing a suitable home or apartment setting where individuals can comfortably reside and receive the necessary support.

We serve people in the Central Maryland area.

Many of those we serve, receive full or partial financial support from governmental funding sources. We also serve individuals who are privately funded. We accept private pay for any services we provide. Private pay rates vary based on the specific needs of the individual and their family.

At LBD, we take immense pride in our exceptional team of highly skilled professionals. With a rigorous selection process, we ensure that we employ individuals of the highest caliber in their respective fields. Our screening procedure is one of the most comprehensive, encompassing in-depth interviews, drug screenings, background checks, as well as written and mathematical exams.

Following this rigorous screening process, selected candidates undergo extensive training, totaling approximately 100 hours. These training sessions cover a diverse range of topics, including specialized training such as Certified Nursing Assistant Training, Behavior Principles and Strategies, and Choking Prevention. Through these comprehensive training programs, we strive to equip our employees with the necessary knowledge and expertise to deliver top-notch services to the individuals we support.

Career Opportunities

Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Is a caregiver who provides support to individuals with disabilities or special needs. They may assist with daily living tasks, transportation, medication management, and other activities to promote independence and community involvement.

Team Leader

Is a supervisory role that oversees a team of Direct Support Professionals. They are responsible for training, scheduling, and managing the team to ensure the highest quality of care for the individuals they support.

Program Coordinator

Is responsible for managing and coordinating services for individuals with disabilities or special needs. They may develop and implement individualized care plans, coordinate with medical professionals and other service providers, and oversee the day-to-day operations of the program.

Administrative

May include duties such as managing paperwork, scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, and coordinating with other departments. They may also be responsible for financial management and ensuring compliance with regulations and policies.
